In 1375 Thos Crimpy of Scotstoun sold Westhall estates to the Lauderdales and it became part of the Hatton estate.
The surviving Taxation Roll of 26th March 1479 (reign of James the Third) shows

Harry Taylor as well as being an engineer was also a keen horseman and an amature rider. Local legend has it that after a dispute over a race, he had his horses destroyed and buried in the grounds along with the silver trophies he had won. It is more likely that like many horse owners he had his animals destroyed rather than have them comandeered for the 1st World War. This however does not stop the odd person with a metal detector going over the old grounds, or the romantics who like to keep the story alive. Perhaps the matter will be proved one way or another if and when the new development of the grounds takes place
